BBNC - Personal Note Timothy S. Cooke 11/21/2024  
Major (ret) Timothy S. Cooke, MMH '08, has been named Chieftain of the Hawaiian Scottish Festival and Highland Games for 2025. The Hawaiian Festival is a two-day event, traditionally held the first weekend of April, concluding a month of Celtic-themed parades, pub crawls, and whiskey tastings around Honolulu.
BBNC - Personal Note Daniel G. Kemp 11/21/2024  
Dan Kemp, MMH '12, has continued his side career writing military historical fiction. His latest short story appeared in Raconteur Press' "The Big Ones," an anthology of WWII alternate histories that can be found on Amazon. The project's assistant editor at Raconteur was Colonel Christopher DiNote, USAF, who was *also* MMH '12 even if the exigencies of wartime service delayed his Capstone by a year or three. Now that that story's done, it's back to work on the third "Athenaeum, Incorporated" military-espionage novel.

Retired from the Army after 22 years of commissioned service in June 2024. Currently pursuing a PhD in History from the University of Kansas. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Tactics at the Command and General Staff College.

Since graduating from the MAH program with Norwich in 2022, Chris submitted articles to the Coast Defense Journal and On Point: The Journal of Army History, both published within the last year. Additionally, Chris used his successful experience and applied to the Defence Studies Program of King's College London, where he is researching the American Expeditionary Forces' effectiveness with intelligence-related concepts during the Great War.
BBNC - Personal Note Shaun P. Miller 11/21/2024  
On October 11, with family, friends, and colleagues in attendance, Colonel Shaun P. Miller ('00) was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Army at Houston, Texas. Since July 2024, BG Miller has been assigned as the Deputy Commanding General of the 76th Operational Response Command (ORC) located in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his civilian capacity, BG Miller is an Assistant Chief for the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), responsible for the delivery of the state's emergency management programs for Southeast Texas.

Ryan C. Mitiguy ('14) obtained his Juris Doctor from Campbell Law School in May 2024. Ryan successfully passed the NC Bar Exam and has secured employment at a law firm predominately practicing employment law in North Carolina.

Tyler Noyes (NU 2016) and Austin Soule (NU 2015) were recognized by Vermont State Police for their promotions to SGT at the Annual VSP Awards and Promotion Ceremony at the Vermont State House on September 13th. Tyler is assigned to Troop B Westminster barracks and Austin is assigned to Trop B Royalton barracks.

I have something I would like to include in the 2003 class notes section. I was recently awarded the individual heroism award and medal from the U.S. Department of State for my actions in 2022 during an uprising in Kazakhstan (very long story, I was injured from toxic fumes, shot at, taken captive by Kazakh troops, almost shot at second checkpoint ect). This is very rare award, especially rare when only awarded to one person (most awards in the Department are group awards). I believe I may be the first NU alumni to be presented this award.

On May 16, 2024, Lt Col Jordan Kowalski ('07 India Co) took command of the 3rd Special Operations Squadron, Cannon AFB, NM. The 3rd SOS conducts persistent ISR utilizing MQ-9s for Air Force Special Operations Command.

In January of 2024, Rachel (Basinger) Lane MA '21 became a programming associate for the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library set to open in Medora, North Dakota, on America's 250th anniversary (July 4, 2026).

Norwich graduates, Justin Orabona '83 (LtCol USMC (Ret) 2008), Jeffrey Ogden '84 (Colonel, US Army (Ret) 2014), and Brian Balukonis '87 (VP Carribbean Area Lead) all got together at the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) 2024 Capital Week in Bethesda, MD.

Five Norwich graduates ran into eachother at the MBA Veterans Career conference. MBA Veterans holds this conference for veterans attending the world's top-ranked universities. All five alum are attending top 30 MBA programs.

Houston Alumni and Family assisted in placing over 50,000 Christmas Wreaths on Fallen Soldier Grave sites at the Houston National Veterans Cemetery in Texas. This is the 16th annual Ceremony and is larger than Arlington National Veterans Cemetery. Houston Alumni Association held it's Annual Christmas Party for 2023 hosted by Tony and Shelley Martin in Kingwood, TX. Good Food and Good Cheer were followed by updates from the Campus and Student Body news.
