Jayson A. Altieri '89, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) senior member assigned to the Alabama Wing Headquarters, was awarded the CAP Bronze Medal of Valor on April 12 during the annual Alabama Wing Conference. Altieri was awarded the second highest CAP award for valor for distinguished and conspicuous heroic actions where danger to himself was known in attempting to render first aid and assistance to victims of a fatal three-car accident on March 8, 2021, on Highway 31 near Prattville, Alabama.

Maj Gen Gary W. Keefe '86 was awarded the distinguished Order of Merit "Gral Div Bernardino Caballero" in the grade of "Gran Cross" by the Paraguay President Santiago Peña in April. This award recognizes distinctive, valuable service and the alliance between Paraguay and the United States.

Maj Gen Gary Keefe '86, USAF and MAJ Gene Enriquez, '07, USA met up at the 2025 African Chiefs of Defense Conference in Nairobi, Kenya in May. Gary is the Adjutant General, Massachusetts National Guard and Gene is the Director of International Affairs for Vermont Army National Guard.

Our Norwich University Family is so important to my two adult children and me. Webster '20, who is currently on mission with the U.S. Marines in Okinawa, Japan, was the first female Marine to graduate from the Jungle Leaders course on Feb. 7. Walt Banaszak NU'69 and his daughter Katie enjoyed a Hurtigruten Expedition cruise form 11/28/23 to 12/15/23. Ports of call included Buenos Aires and Ushuaia, Argentina, the Antactic peninsula and the Falkland Islands. Highlights included the viewing of many kinds of penguins and birds, walking on the peninsula and sea ice and the Zodiac raft rides. Katie and I have been to all 50 states and all 7 continents.

Bill Pope (NU '80) and Kai McCullins (NU 2027) met up at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Wyss Wilderness Medical Campus in Lander Wyoming where Bill had just completed the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Wilderness EMT certification course, and Kai was just beginning it. Another great unanticipated reunion!

I recently retired on September 30th after a 34 year career as an inspector/enforcement manager with the US Environmental Protection Agency's Boston Office (Region 1) and, before that, 7 years with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation. My wife Carol and I sold our home in NH and now reside in Port St. Lucie Florida enjoying the challenges of pickle ball, bike riding and other "non-regulatory" activities after a 41 year career as a public servant.

Michael McCarthy class of 2012 on his successful marriage to his wife Kathryn a West Point Graduate. At the wedding, there were many West Point alums and Norwich Alums who attended. During the ceremony, Norwich Forever was sung as loud as possible to show the West Point alums what attending a real military college was like.

Major (ret) Timothy S. Cooke, MMH '08, has been named Chieftain of the Hawaiian Scottish Festival and Highland Games for 2025. The Hawaiian Festival is a two-day event, traditionally held the first weekend of April, concluding a month of Celtic-themed parades, pub crawls, and whiskey tastings around Honolulu.

Dan Kemp, MMH '12, has continued his side career writing military historical fiction. His latest short story appeared in Raconteur Press' "The Big Ones," an anthology of WWII alternate histories that can be found on Amazon. The project's assistant editor at Raconteur was Colonel Christopher DiNote, USAF, who was *also* MMH '12 even if the exigencies of wartime service delayed his Capstone by a year or three. Now that that story's done, it's back to work on the third "Athenaeum, Incorporated" military-espionage novel.

Since graduating from the MAH program with Norwich in 2022, Chris submitted articles to the Coast Defense Journal and On Point: The Journal of Army History, both published within the last year. Additionally, Chris used his successful experience and applied to the Defence Studies Program of King's College London, where he is researching the American Expeditionary Forces' effectiveness with intelligence-related concepts during the Great War.

On October 11, with family, friends, and colleagues in attendance, Colonel Shaun P. Miller ('00) was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Army at Houston, Texas. Since July 2024, BG Miller has been assigned as the Deputy Commanding General of the 76th Operational Response Command (ORC) located in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his civilian capacity, BG Miller is an Assistant Chief for the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), responsible for the delivery of the state's emergency management programs for Southeast Texas.

Tyler Noyes (NU 2016) and Austin Soule (NU 2015) were recognized by Vermont State Police for their promotions to SGT at the Annual VSP Awards and Promotion Ceremony at the Vermont State House on September 13th. Tyler is assigned to Troop B Westminster barracks and Austin is assigned to Trop B Royalton barracks.
